Adjusting to Spanish Time on Your Holidays to Spain

If you have booked your holidays to Spain from Jet2holidays.com and are enjoying your time in the sunshine, you might find that your natural body rhythms and lifestyle don’t match up with the locals at first.

You might be used to eating lunch around noon and dinner around five or six pm. If you do this in Spain, you will likely find yourself eating almost every meal in an empty restaurant!

Most people in Spain will be in a different schedule and pace of life. You will find that the locals eat their lunch later in the afternoon, around 1pm or 2pm. These lunches are long and leisurely and can last until as late as 3pm.

On very hot afternoons, it is a Spanish tradition to take a small sleep after lunch which is known as a “siesta”. You mind want to try having a little nap in the afternoon during your holidays to Spain, as it will help you avoid the sweltering heat and sunshine of the afternoon and refresh you so that you can enjoy the evening to the fullest!

Spanish people eat dinner a lot later than you might be used to as well. Most restaurants will be dead until as late as 8pm or 9pm when people start eating their evening meal. If there are a large group of people sharing tapas and bottles of wine, this evening meal can last a long time!

Enjoy yourself, and adjust into the slower pace of life on your holidays to Spain!
